As commenter Matthaias mentioned on that post, the heights don't seem right for that to be Digory and Jadis. Like I mentioned in my comment there, maybe Frank’s cab was destroyed, and he tried to ride Strawberry to safety, but Jadis jumped up behind him, leading to this scene? One possible argument against that theory, though, is that there's no evidence of a broken harness on Strawberry.

So a lot of fans are upset about the (apparent) time period change for the Magician's Nephew movie. I'm one of those fans. But I'm also kind of tired about how much online discussion about modern movie adaptations amounts to complaining about them. Not that people don't have the right to dislike or hate modern movie adaptations. But I also have the right to feel like they've gotten obnoxious. So I decided to start a topic about something I personally really like about the recent set photos.

The sets themselves.

If only this movie was adapting a different Narnia book, one that it made somewhat sense to set in the 1950s, then I'd be stoked for it. (Do people still say stoked? Oh well.) I think they look beautiful.

But even though I started this topic to inject some positivity into this discussion, I'm not asking anyone to lie about their opinion for my sake. If any of you dislike the sets for reasons besides the time period they depict, I'd be interested in reading why.

Picture number 3/6 down below in the line up. Is there any chance the lady following along behind probably-Digory is Aunt Letty? She could be an extra, but as an actress she looks REALLY familiar. I can't place her though.

We keep getting soundbites from the producers saying that Greta Gerwig's vision for Narnia is really cool, but it feels like it's been a long time since we've heard anything from Gerwig herself about her vision. I understand that's intentional since Netflix wants to keep fans hooked but it's driving me a tad crazy. {ym}:giggle: If I'm going to agree with those producers', I'd love to hear more and if I'm going to disagree with them, I'd like to start resigning myself to it.

My guess is we'll get an interview with Gerwig about the new Narnia movie sometime in 2026, but I don't know enough about how these things work to say when. I'd be interested in reading other Narniawebbers' estimates.

If you plan to visit New Zealand and see some film locations, the famous beach called Cathedral Cove might be on your list.... the government has already put it on a list of places they will charge overseas tourists to visit.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360778945/iconic-hotspots-new-international-tourist-fees-will-apply-and-what-could-be-next

The idea is to reinvest the fee money into the places. It makes sense for Cathedral Cove; its access track was badly damaged in 2023, but has now been repaired. I have been down that track (not an easy stroll), and the beach and rock caves were wonderful.

Cathedral Cove was used as the beach in Narnia not far from Cair Paravel, where the four Pevensies found themselves after being pulled out of a railway station by magic.
